Traditional Country Dance


The following SkyeDance classes continue to take place:

Ballet - under 7's
An Introduction to Ballet is a class for under 7's who learn basic arm and feet positions
and moving to music as a step towards the next class for age 7
which develops a more conventional style of Ballet.

Contemporary - 16 and over
Energetic, creative and dynamic, Contemporary Dance embodies a
huge range of techniques and skills. This class will involve exercises and sequences
that explore balance, floor work, fall and recovery and use of the breath.

The class will allow you to develop strength and flexibility and help you gradually
increase the complexity of dance movement you can master.

The class is open to everyone aged 16+ and you should wear loose comfortable clothing.
We dance in bare feet.

Ceilidh Dancing - Adults
The Kilmuir Ceilidh Dance Class is an adult class (under the auspices of Comhlan Dannsa Throdairnis).
The class consists of familiar dances eg Highland Shottische
but also varied dances eg The Kilarney Waltz to challenge and stimulate.

Egyptian Dance - Adults
Raqs Sharqi, literally ‘Eastern Dance’ is the traditional dance of Egypt.
It encompasses folk dance, the classical form and Beledi, the ‘Blues’ of Egypt.
The dance itself is earthy, flowing and expressive. It can be joyful, elegant, cheeky,
pensive, exuberant or full of longing but, above all, great fun!
It is suitable for men and women of all ages, sizes and fitness.
